Brower Java Games Developer

Our client, developer and publisher of the MMORPG adventure game RuneScape, is looking for dedicated, imaginative and technically adept programmers, to work within our fast paced Mobile/Browser-Games Development Team.

The Mobile/Browser-Games Development Team is responsible for creating, supporting and maintaining Java based browser games for external release to fee paying customers.

You will be responsible for working across multiple development projects, building high quality browser-games from concept creation through to final product, in a timely and efficient manner.

You will be working in a fast paced and unfamiliar development environment so the ability to be flexible, adaptable and to positively take constructive criticism will be paramount.

Key duties include:
Efficient and reliable coding of game engines in Java to agreed deadlines;
Concept to finished product game design and creation;
Creation of game concepts which have the potential to become revenue generating products;
Effective game playability design, with the aim of producing a high quality well polished product;
Creation and maintenance of internal documentation in line with company design processes;
Liaison with internal graphics, audio and quality assurance departments;
Directly report into the Mobile/Browser Games Team Leader.

Essential requirements:
Excellent understanding of game play mechanics;
Excellent understanding of all aspects of game product creation;
Excels in programming Java applications, with special attention to reliability and efficiency of code;
High degree of personal initiative;
Good understanding of software development methodologies;
Good written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate enthusiastically, clearly (good grammar) and concisely to all levels within the organization;
Good time management skills with demonstrable ability in handling multiple responsibilities concurrently whilst working well under deadline pressures;
High level of attention to detail;
Excellent problem-solving ability.

Also useful:
Degree level education in a relevant computing discipline or equivalent experience;
A strong interest in computer games;
Well organised;
Imaginative;
Team player.
